I was born 20.12.1975 in Náchod in Czech republic. My mother Vilma Berdychová was devoted to wooden jewellery craft; my father Jan Mach worked during my childhood as a cabinetmaker and later as a teacher at Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Older brother Daniel Berdych trained himself to become a violin maker. My interest in violin craftsmanship stems from the fact that from my early years I came daily in contact with art and craft production of other family members.
In 1990-1994 I attended the high school - Gymnasium in Marianské Lázně. After graduation I moved to Prague, where I began to get acquainted with the craft of luthiery in Daniel Berdych´s violin making/reparing shop. I was involved mostly in the restoration of instruments dating from pre-war era. In 2001 I moved to Spain, where I learned how to make new string instruments in the Jaromír Bažant´s violin shop in Valencia. In the year 2002 I relocated to Soul, South Korea. There I had the exciting opportunity to experiment with varnishing newly manufactured violins. In 2003 I went to Sri Lanca, where I could varnish violins in a small manufacture.
After my return to Czech Republic I began to make the instruments on my own. In 2007 I graduated from the violin school in Cheb and was admitted into the Guild of Prague´s Luthiers.
From 2006 to 2013 I had a violin making shop in Nekázanka 20, Prague 1. Since 2014 I have business in Tachov in the Pilsen region.
